Adding value for life

What one person sees as waste may be high-quality ingredients for another. At FeedValid we know all about that. Our company converts food waste, including bread, chocolate, crisps, biscuits and rice, into valuable animal feeds of the very highest quality. Each one is a circular product that contributes to animals’ quality of life, as well as to more efficient and more sustainable food production. We call this ‘adding value for life’.

5 priorities in the area of sustainability
Together we make progress, raising the quality of our animal-feed ingredients to another level. Sustainability runs like a ‘green thread’ through our organisation and we maintain a firm focus on the following 5 priorities:

  1. Sustainable raw materials
  2. Circular ingredients
  3. Sustainable operations
  4. Innovative feed solutions
  5. Partnerships across the chain

  1. Sustainable raw materials
We give priority to products we can source close to home. You will not be surprised to hear that sustainability and transparency are our purchasing department’s core values. Did you know that we aim to source as much as 85% of our raw materials from Europe by 2025? An ambitious target! But one we are well on the way to achieving: three-quarters of our raw materials are already obtained from Europe. As we enrich straight raw materials, such as soy, animals benefit from better nutrient availability, efficiency is increased and emissions are reduced.
  2. Circular ingredients
We like pushing boundaries and being at the forefront of developments. When it comes to valorising waste streams, we therefore play a leading role within the chain. Thanks to our innovative production processes, we are able to convert various waste streams from the food and retail industries into high-quality animal-feed ingredients. In this way no valuable nutrients are lost and we are actively contributing to a circular food system. Collaboration within the chain is crucial for this and we are proud that more and more parties are entrusting their waste streams to us.

  1. Sustainable operations
Sustainability is integral to everything we do. Besides valorising waste streams and using sustainable ingredients, we ensure our production processes are as environmentally friendly as possible. We invest in a sustainable logistics chain and energy-saving technology, and separate waste when removing packaging materials. By 2025 we aim to have reduced our own carbon footprint from production and logistics by a further 20%. Our employees are at the heart of everything we do. Ensuring a safe and pleasant working environment is therefore not an ambition, but an absolute prerequisite. Safety first!

  1. Innovative feed solutions
Standing still means going backwards. Together with our customers, we are continuing to look for ways to further reduce the climate footprint of food chains. Valorising waste streams and using local ingredients helps us here, as does enriching raw materials. We are convinced that with our innovative solutions we are contributing to a reduction in food waste, more climate-resilient and more socially acceptable livestock production and a more robust food system. By 2025 we aim to develop at least 3 new feed concepts that will further reduce the carbon footprint.

  1. Partnerships across the chain
Teamwork makes the dream work. If you want to make the chain more innovative, you need to work together. That’s something we like to do on a regular basis. We are proud of our existing partnerships, which focus on converting waste streams into valuable premium ingredients. At the same time, however, we are also working hard to identify new opportunities for collaboration with chain partners to further improve the sustainability of the value chain.
