Press release: Mark Ipema new CEO FeedValid

01 July 2026

New CEO Mark Ipema ushers in a new chapter for FeedValid: "If you don't believe you're going to win, you'll never win."

ZALTBOMMEL, The Netherlands – FeedValid is entering a new chapter. As of 1 July, Mark Ipema officially assumes the role of CEO. Following a successful interim period and bringing an impressive track record in the feed and process industries, he succeeds Robin Weening. His mission? To further strengthen FeedValid as the driving force behind sustainable value creation in the animal feed chain, with people as the company's greatest asset.

Strengthening the food chain
"FeedValid is a company where you make a difference every single day", says Ipema. "Our strength lies both in the valorisation of single feed ingredients and in creating value where others see residual streams. We take the lead in combating food waste. Thanks to our specialist expertise and advanced processing capabilities, these raw materials are optimally utilized by animals. In doing so, we strengthen the circular food chain while contributing to animal health and welfare."

Building a future-proof industry
Ipema sees abundant opportunities ahead. "I know the market, understand the value chain, and recognize where the greatest potential lies. FeedValid is the market leader, and we're far from finished. We are committed to leading the way for our customers and suppliers in addressing both today's and tomorrow's challenges. By working closely together, we can make the animal feed sector even more sustainable and resilient for the future. Our people are the key to achieving that. Their craftsmanship, commitment, and entrepreneurial spirit make the difference in the quality we deliver and the innovations we develop together with our partners."

Inspiration from an unexpected source
One of Ipema's most distinctive sources of inspiration comes from the Māori culture of New Zealand. "In Māori culture, every child is raised as a potential leader of the community. I find that fascinating. Everyone is given equal opportunities while learning to take responsibility. At the same time, leadership is seen as temporary stewardship. You inherit what previous generations have built, take the best possible care of it, and pass it on in an even stronger state. The way we relate to future generations is something I reflect on often."

A new perspective on leadership
With Ipema's appointment, FeedValid embraces a fresh perspective on leadership. "I don't believe it's a CEO's job to create happiness. Happiness is something personal", he says with a smile. "No, I'm not a 'Chief Happiness Officer.' I'd rather create an environment where people feel challenged, seen and heard. People want to contribute to something that truly matters. That's where real energy comes from. Not from symbolic perks like a foosball table in the cafeteria."

The person behind the role
"I'm genuinely curious about what motivates people. The person behind the job title. Where do you come from? What drives you? Where do you want to go? That's why my door is always open. I want to be approachable and accessible. The best ideas often emerge spontaneously through everyday conversations. Colleagues should feel they are part of one FeedValid team. We achieve our goals together."

Practical idealism
Sustainability ranks high on Ipema's agenda, but always with a pragmatic mindset. "I believe in creating maximum impact, not pursuing unrealistic ambitions. Reality must lead the way. What good is a perfect theory if the solution doesn't work in practice? We must make conscious choices about where we want to excel. And whatever we choose, we must execute exceptionally well. If you don't believe you're going to win, you'll never win. With determination and decisiveness, we're going to show what's possible."
